In one sentence
Gateborn is a space adventure in which a young fox scavenger and a gruff lion mentor fly between the drifting fragments of a broken universe, land in walkable story locations and make choices that follow them to the end.
About the game
The Ancestors who uplifted the animal peoples vanished long ago, and their world broke apart. Deserts, jungles, drowned seas and mining towns now drift through the Aether on fragments of rock, and the Gates that once joined them are dormant.
You play Sparks, a young scavenger raised by Kaelric, a former Iron Dominion shipwright. The two keep a battered shuttle running on salvage and repair jobs while three great powers edge toward war around them.
Fly through hand-built top-down regions. Mine, trade, scan the wildlife and fight. Dock and the game switches to isometric: walk the settlements, talk to the people there and take on their problems. Some encounters play out as illustrated stories with skill checks, and a failed check sends the story somewhere new.
Features
- Top-down flight through hand-built regions: Emberfall, Frostbreak, Briarwake, the Cinderworks and Saltwake
- Walkable isometric locations, from the rain-soaked landing pads of Slagpoint to the desert colony of Helion Reach
- Illustrated choose-your-own-adventure stories with Charm, Grit, Tinker and Nerve checks, where a failed check takes the story somewhere else
- Face-to-face conversations with the people of every settlement
- Comic-panel cutscenes, space combat, mining, salvage and races against a rival pilot
- Hidden standing with the Iron Dominion, the United Collective and the Free Consortium, which decides who stands with you at the end
